Aura Aesthetics Introduces Semaglutide Weight Loss Treatment to Portland

Why did I start semaglutide?
Well, the answer is pretty simple. I wanted something that would finally free me from the feeling that I had no control when it came to my body. I wanted to stop white-knuckling it through diets. Stop punishing myself with exercise. And STOP the incessant calorie math and food noise–all of the endless bargaining with myself over eating this and not that. I just want to live my life!
When it comes to weight loss, I’ve done all the things.
My first diet was at age 13 with good ol’ Jenny Craig. I was always just a little chubby. And then came pregnancy and the ups and downs of life. So I have tried literally everything. You name SlimFast, WeightWatchers, Whole30, South Beach, Noom, intermittent fasting, keto and Noom. Yep. I’ve been there on all of it.
And they all had one thing in common–they never made any real difference and nothing was sustainable.
Sure, I might lose a few pounds, but they didn’t stay gone for long. I was in a constant loop of obsessing about my diet, dieting, weighing myself, and obsessing about my diet more. It was a vicious cycle, and I was done using so much mental capacity on such a small piece of the puzzle. I’m a busy woman. I’ve got shit to do. I needed my brain freed up enough to think of other stuff!
Enter semaglutide
Here’s the thing with semaglutide. It’s not a diet. It’s a solution. A medication that helps your body eat when it's hungry and stop when it's full–naturally. And that’s what drew me in.
Because, here’s the thing–it’s not a knowledge deficit. Not for you, not for me, not for most people. We know how to eat, what to eat, and how much. But that doesn’t stop the brain from crying out for food even when your body doesn’t need it. Semaglutide stops that.

Once I started taking semaglutide, I was blown away by how differently I felt. I wasn’t thinking about food all the time. I ate when I was hungry. And then I would stop when I was full. Thanks to the new medication, I was getting clear cues from my body that I could finally trust.
And let me tell you–I started to see results fast. I was an easy responder, which won’t happen for everyone, but I saw results right away. For most people, you’ll really start to see the difference around week 4. For me, it was going beyond that ten pound weight loss. That’s always the plateau. But with semaglutide, you see the needle keep moving. 10 pounds, then 11, then 12, then 13, then 14. You start to see things that haven’t happened with other programs. When I finally reached my goal weight, I was shocked. And then I kept going. And I was STUNNED. This stuff is the magic my body has been needing.
Kickstart a healthier lifestyle
It was more than just losing weight though. I was losing all of the old mindsets that were no longer serving me. I stopped weighing myself regularly. I started trusting myself. I started developing a normal relationship with food, and with my weight. I started to exercise for my health, not as a punishment for eating something “bad”. I started viewing food as fuel for energy. I started feeling at peace with my body. It’s led to so many other healthier lifestyle habits that I just didn’t have the space to think about when I was consumed with thinking about food.
I’ve been on semaglutide for a new year, and will continue to be on it. Even though I’ve reached my goal weight, it’s a lifetime management situation. This is what most people will experience. It’s not a quick fix, or a cure, but it’s the intervention that gets you where you need to be. We customize our dosing plans to find the minimum effective dose to get results without side effects. It’s a lifesaver, but it’s still a medication, and it’s serious business. We take it seriously. We meet regularly with our clients to make sure it’s working the way it needs to–and we pivot if we need to.
