LASER-SKIN-RESURFACING

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a cosmetic treatment wherein lasers improve your skin tone, texture, and quality, rolling back the signs of aging and sun damage. Non-ablative laser treatments create micro-channels or micro-punctures on your skin’s surface to activate your body’s natural healing process, including skin cell regeneration and collagen production. Skin cell regeneration encourages the formation of new and flawless skin tissues to replace the damaged skin. Meanwhile, collagen production tightens your skin, reduces wrinkles, and restores the youthful firmness of your skin tissues.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Candidates

Laser skin resurfacing is the ideal cosmetic treatment for patients with age-related skin concerns, sun damage, or acne scars. Unlike some older laser technologies, laser skin resurfacing with LaseMD is suitable for all skin tones, including darker skin tones. Laser skin resurfacing is a non-invasive procedure without significant contraindications, but patients with active acne breakouts or skin infections may not be suitable for the treatment.

Laser skin resurfacing could be for you if you struggle with:

  • Sun damage

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Hyperpigmentation

  • Uneven skin

  • Textural irregularities

  • Enlarged pores

  • Melasma

  • Acne scars

  • Age spots

  • Sunspots

  • Sagging skin

Your skin will be prepared — the clinicians will thoroughly cleanse the treatment areas, removing all the oil, makeup debris, and dust. The doctor will also apply topical anesthesia to ensure you have a smooth and comfortable experience. If the treatment area is large, she may also recommend a sedative. After preparing your skin, the LaseMD device is moved over your skin — the fractional, non-ablative laser creates micro-channels without damaging the surface skin tissues.

TREATMENT

01

Your skin may develop scabs as the old skin starts flaking off, paving the way for the fresh new skin underneath. The treatment results will start appearing in a few days, but the final results may become evident in two to three weeks. Your skin will seem considerably smoother, younger, and tighter at the end of the recovery process. Your doctor may also recommend scheduling a few additional sessions to maximize the results.

RECOVERY

After the treatment, you’ll experience some burning sensations, bumps, swelling, or redness around the treatment areas for a few days. However, you can minimize the discomfort by following your doctor’s post-treatment recovery guidelines. You can minimize the swelling with ice packs. You can resume most of your daily activities and work soon after the treatment, but you must avoid strenuous exercises for at least a week or two.
